Free Minion Earflap Beanie Crochet Pattern by Niftynnifer

After receiving an order for this hat, I was excited to get started.

For a better understanding of my Crochet Patterns, please refer to my-special-crochet-abbreviations.

I used:
(Patons Canadiana) 4 ply Worsted Weight Yarns in yellow, white, brown, grey or silver, blue or pink(if you want a girl), and black.
4.5 MM hook or hook needed to obtain gauge.
Round Markers.
Needle

Gauge:
Approximately 5 rows = 2 inches.
Approximately 5 hdc = 2 inches.

~Advice:
Work the hat 'base' in a continuous round.
Mark new rounds.
Save time, measure your gauge.
Read Before Proceed.
Measure the head you are making your hat for.
Size may vary by each individuals crochet tension.
Hide all knots and ends inside hat!
When sewing in faces/smaller parts, do not tie off until you are sure it is where you want it.
Be careful not to sew hat closed!
Refer to photos for visual details.
When switching colors you may see larger holes. I normally weave my ends in closing the holes up more.

Position and sew eye(s) (using needle and white yarn) to hat along the ''white'' so that the grey sticks out further.

Using Black Yarn and a needle, neatly sew in a little smile and some hair to the best of your abilities.

*Next: Add braided Ties.

Cut 10 pieces ea of 2 colors of yarn (5 of ea color per ear) cut at approximately 30 inches ea.
Devide into 2 even parts. Cut 2 pieces of yarn at 6 inches each. Starting with one ear, find the center of the 1 of the 2 bundles, pull the center through bottom of earflap. (So loop is inside the hat). Pull the yarn ends through the top of the loop. Tighten loop. Repeat with other ear.

Braid ties to a matching length. Fasten at the bottom of braid with 6 inch pieces of yarn. Trim to even ends.
