She asked for a red cape...
So while she spent her first day at school, I made this fantastic hooded cape! She looks beautiful in it and she just had to put it on as soon as she received it!
I used:
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, worsted 4. Colour 'Cherry red' (Approximately 1 1/2 skeins)
6.5 mm hook.
Needle
4 x 1 inch (4 hole) Black buttons

Hood
Using Red yarn and 6.5 mm hook.
Round 1:
Ch 2. 6 Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. (6hdc)
Round 2:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. 2 hdc in ea st around. (12hdc)
Round 3:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next st. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. (18hdc)
Round 4:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 2 sts. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. (24hdc)
Round 5:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 3 sts. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. (30hdc)
Round 6:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 4 sts. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. (36hdc)
Round 7:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 5 sts. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. (42hdc)
Round 8:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in ea st around. (42hdc)
Row 9:
Hdc to join(mnr). Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 6 sts. 2 hdc in next st* Repeat from * to * around. Sk last 3 sts. Ch 2. Turn. (45hdc)
Row 10:
Hdc in ea st around. Sk last 3 sts before round marker. You should have a total of 7 unworked sts. (41hdc)
Rows 11-19:
Ch 2. Turn. Hdc in ea st across. (41hdc)
Row 20:
Ch 2. Turn.
Now working along 'neck line', Work 49 hdc's across. (49hdc)
Row 21:
Ch 2. Turn. Hdc in same st. *Hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st. (76hdc)
Row 22:
Ch 2. Turn. *Hdc in next 24 sts, Vst in next st.* Repeat from * to * across, placing one hdc in last st.(78sts)
Rows 23-26:
Ch 2. Turn. Hdc in ea st across, placing a Vst in ea Vst sp. (Stitch counts should increase by 2 stitches per row)
Rows 27-35:
Ch 2. Turn. Hdc in ea st across. (86sts)
Round 36:
Ch 1. Turn. Sc in next st(mnr). *Ss in next st, sk next st, 5 dc in next st, sk next st.* Repeat from * to * across. Ch 1. Now working along left side of opening, sc in side of first row, ch 2, (starting button holes)*Sk next row, (sc in top of next row, sc in side of same row)2 Times.*Repeat from * to * 4 times. Continue to sc evenly along to first st before first st in Row 19 of hood. Ss in first st. *Sk next st, 5dc in next st, sk next st, ss in next st.* Repeat from * to * across hood.(10shells).
Ch 1. Now evenly sc along right side opening. Ss to join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Chain & Pom poms
Ch 77, leaving a tail at each end for attaching pom poms. Weave ch through row 20 of neck.
Make 2 pom poms.
